Frequently asked questions

What is a meet n greet?

A meet n greet is a time to get to know each other and your pet in their home environment. Amber goes over information sheets to make sure everything needed is covered, including food, cleaning supplies, leashes, and other essentials.

This is also when the invoice, payment methods, payment timing, service contract paperwork, and any additional questions are reviewed together.

How do we communicate?

After each visit, a report card is sent through PetPocketBook. After the initial meet n greet, clients receive an email invite to become a client and complete the service contract along with their profile and their pet's profile.

Through the app or web access, clients can manage invoices, send direct messages, request additional visits, and receive notifications when visits are complete with summaries, pictures, and videos.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations for walks or drop-in visits need to be made at least 48 hours in advance. Anything with less than 48 hours' notice is billed in full at the current rate. If Amber arrives and a visit was forgotten or someone is sick, the full drop-in or walk charge still applies.

Overnight bookings need to be cancelled 30 days before the booking starts. Once the booking or services have started, returning home early does not create a refund for the remaining days.

What happens if we stay away longer?

Let Amber know as soon as possible to see whether arrangements can be made to continue caring for your pets. If extra time can be added, the updated bill is expected to be paid within the week after the completed services.

Do federal holidays affect pricing?

Federal holidays add $15 per drop-in and $15 for any overnight that begins or ends on a federal holiday.

There is also a $15 increase on all services during the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas.

Do you require a deposit?

Overnight bookings require a 20% deposit, paid within 2 weeks of booking. That deposit goes toward the total bill.

How does payment work?

Amber's Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services accepts cash, personal checks, credit cards, and Venmo. Checks should be made out to Amber's Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services.

Any bounced check carries a $25 fee, and repeated bounced checks may result in personal checks no longer being accepted. Credit card payments can be made directly through the PetPocketBook invoice or by requesting a text invoice to a phone.

Do you accept behavior cases?

Yes. Drop-ins, walks, and overnight sitting can be offered for nervous, anxious, and reactive dogs, including dogs with bite history, as long as the proper conversations happen first.

For dogs who are reactive or nervous around people, extra visits are usually preferred before they are left alone with a sitter. The goal is to help them feel safe and comfortable in their own home rather than uncomfortable while their owners are away.

Can you train my dog?

No. Amber does not train dogs and is not certified as a dog trainer. Experience with anxious and reactive dogs helps with handling and care, and local resources can be suggested if training support is needed.

What other animals do you accept?

Care is available for cats, dogs, backyard farm animals, small mammals, rodents, and birds.

Experience includes large and small birds, chinchillas, ferrets, cats, rats, mice, hamsters, bunnies, and feeding a horse.
